KITE Solutions s.n.c. is a Small and Medium Enterprise(SME), established in 2003, with the objective of studying, developing and implementing safety and risk assessments in complex plants and industrial contexts with high automation, paying particular attention to Human Factors.
KITE Solutions is able to design, commercialise and implement technological and software based solutions in domains with advanced automation and safety critical human machine interfaces.
The main expertise of KITE Solutions lies in engineering, risk assessment, psychology and cognitive ergonomic, and in information technology, specifically applied to Human Factors. Thanks to these competences, the activities of KITE Solutions are concentrated on Safety Analysis and Risk Management, Human Factor Training, Modelling and Development of Human-Machine systems, Analysis of Accidents and Non-conformity events. All the methods developed by KITE Solutions are supported and based on sophisticated software both for the development of applications and computer based simulations. These softwares are applied also for the implementation of data bases, for the study and analysis of safety, and for the generation of multimedia supports, for training and for the development of user friendly interfaces.
Presently, a number of industrial actions are being carried out mostly in the domain of automation design and development, for Italian customers. In particular, in the civil aviation field, KITE is able to develop and to administer specific courses for different organizations and companies on the following topics:
- Basic and recurrent formation in Human Factors concerning maintenance
- Basic and recurrent formation in Human Resources Managemnt (Crew Resource Management, CRM) for pilots and flight attendants
- Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and concerning formative courses. Revision and implemetation of the same ERP
KITE Solutions is collaborating with the Italian Flight Safety Committee (IFSC) in the development of an incident reporting system, in all areas of civil aviation, namely flight operations, maintenance and ground. In the more specific area of Human Factors, KITE Solutions has developed and is carrying out a series of Projects for the formation of field and managerial personnel in complex plants. Training courses in basic Human Factors have been supplied to several petrochemical and aviation organisations, mainly dealing with maintenance and plant/flight operations. In the domain of Aviation these courses are developed according to the European Standard EASA 145 and 66 (Module 9). Moreover, a Safety Management System for Civil Aviation is under development in accordance with Italian and European standards.
At research level, KITE Solutions is collaborating in European Commission (EC) funded projects, mostly in FWP 6 and FWP 7, focused on safety and human factors in the areas of Petrochemical Plants, Aeronautics, Transport (urban guided and roads) and Medical Environments.
